First up - ONTARIO HUNTER JUMPER ASSOCIATION
The Ontario Hunter Jumper Association (OHJA)supports equestrian athletes on what’s known as the ‘A’ circuit or Gold Level. This support covers all levels of training and competition, including year-end awards and qualification for the national championship at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair.
Competition Membership Requirements:
LICENCE AND PASSPORT REQUIREMENTS FOR COMPETING AT THE GOLD LEVEL
EC Gold competitive license: must be held by riders, owners, lessees, coaches, trainers, and officials.
EC Horse license – annual license required for horses. The EC recording number for the current year must be provided to all competitions that the animal is entered into.
EC Passport/Recording Number: all horses competing at EC gold-sanctioned shows must possess an EC Horse Recording Number.
If you are competing at the Jumping Page 6 of 8 Platinum Level, you must possess either an EC or FEI Passport.
You should provide a photocopy of EC, OE, and OHJA licenses to all competitions with your entry form.
Second - ONTARIO EQUESTRIAN
Membership provides you with $5,000,000 Personal Liability Insurance along with many other insurance additional options to keep both you and your horse coverage for the unexpected. You also have access to discounts with various retails through membership.
You are required to purchase your Ontario Equestrian membership before purchasing your Equestrian Canada sport license.
Third - EQUESTRIAN CANADA
Equestrian Canada (better known as EC) is both Canada’s amateur athletic association and its national federation for equestrian sport. They were formed from amalgamations, mergers and over time have evolved from the grassroots to a formalized, structured, and governed organization.
EC represents and advocates for tens of thousands of sports license holders and active horses both in and out of competition. Alongside their Provincial & Territorial Sport Organization partners, collaborators, donors, sponsors, and affiliate organizations, they play a pivotal role in the equestrian sector throughout the country.
Together with the community and their volunteers, they champion best practices, encourage participation and strive for excellence. They are collectively dedicated to fostering a love of horses and sport, for life..
